The Mutual Fund industry’s average AUM surged by 4.66% to ₹61.33 lakh crore in June.

The average AUM of Equity Oriented Schemes increased by 7% to ₹26.83 lakh crore.

Net Inflows into open-ended equity funds remained positive for the 40th consecutive month in June, reaching a record high of ₹40.61K crore.

Sectoral/Thematic fund inflows hit another record of ₹22.35K crore, driven by interest in NFOs, with nine new funds including SBI Automotive Opportunities Fund and Mahindra Manulife Manufacturing Fund collecting ₹12.97K crore.

Hybrid schemes experienced a decline of 51% in net inflows to ₹8.86K crore.

The average AUM of Debt Funds rose by 1.08% to ₹15.18 lakh crore in June, despite a net outflow of ₹1.08 lakh crore.

In the latest AMFI stock categorization, seven notable stocks have been elevated from the Mid Cap to the Large Cap category. This prestigious upgrade includes industry leaders such as Hero Motocorp, Zydus Lifesciences, JSW Energy, NHPC, BHEL, Samvardhana Motherson International and Bosch.

In the recent upgrade from Small Cap to Mid Cap category, a total of 19 stocks have been promoted to the Mid Cap category. Among these, two recent IPO stocks, Bharti Hexacom and Go Digit Insurance, have made their debut in the Mid Cap segment.

Tata Chemicals, Vedant Fashions, The Ramco Cements, and Piramal Enterprises have been
downgraded to the Small Cap category.

Indian Markets Reach All-Time High with Robust FII and DII Investments – Indian markets reached an all-time high, marking a significant turning point driven by FIIs buying into the equity market. FIIs have now become net buyers for the calendar year, purchasing equities worth ₹26,565 Cr in June. Domestic Institutional Investors (DIIs) also supported the market with investments totaling ₹28,633 Cr in June. 

FII Investment Preferences in June – In June, FIIs demonstrated a strong preference for investments in the Financial Services, Telecom, Consumer Services, Healthcare, Realty and Chemicals sectors.

FII Selling in Key Sectors – FIIs sold off their holdings in the Metal & Mining, Construction, Oil & Gas, Power, Information Technology, and FMCG sectors in June.

Mutual Fund’s Investment Pace Slows Down -In this record-breaking market, the pace of mutual fund investments has slowed down in June compared to May. Despite the high market performance, Mutual Funds (MFs) invested ₹20,359 Cr in domestic equities in June.

In an impressive display of resilience and investor confidence, the Mutual Fund industry has witnessed a remarkable surge. The Average Assets Under Management (AAUM) increased by an astounding 8.93% quarter-on-quarter, reaching a significant ₹58.96 Lakh Crs in the April-June 2024 quarter.

SBI Mutual Fund continues to solidify its leadership, proudly holding the top position for an impressive 18th consecutive quarter.

The mutual fund landscape demonstrates exceptional stability, with the top eight and top three firms retaining their ranks for an impressive 12 consecutive quarters. Additionally, the ranking of the top 10 Asset Management Companies (AMCs) remains unchanged, highlighting a period of steady dominance in the industry.

Many equity mutual fund schemes have demonstrated a significant inclination towards new investments in IPOs, including TBO Tek, Go Digit General Insurance, Aadhar Housing Finance, Indegene and Awfis Space Solutions. Additionally, they have shown a preference for fresh investments in well-established companies such as HDFC Bank, Kotak Mahindra Bank, Hero Motocorp, Titagarh Rail Systems, Cipla, Dabur and Power Finance Corporation.

Several equity schemes have strategically exited their holdings in companies such as Coforge, Bajaj Finance, DLF, Bharat Electronics, AIA Engineering, LTIMindtree, Canara Bank, GAIL, Wipro, Lupin, BHEL, and GMR Airports Infrastructure.

Overall, equity mutual fund schemes have been actively acquiring shares in prominent companies such as HDFC Bank, Kotak Mahindra Bank, Apollo Hospitals, Larsen & Toubro, Sun Pharma, Zomato, Cipla and Power Finance Corporation.

Among most traded stocks, there was selloff in Coforge, Cummins India, Bharat Electronics, Hindustan Aeronautics, State Bank of India, ICICI Bank, REC, Bajaj Finance and Tata Motors.

Among the top traded mid-cap stocks, several equity schemes preferred to sell Torrent Power, Prestige Estates Projects, Thermax, NHPC and Solar Industries India. Conversely, many schemes invested in stocks like Samvardhana Motherson International, Hero Motocorp and CG Power & Industrial Solutions.

Among the most actively traded small-cap stocks, various equity schemes directed their investments towards companies such as Crompton Greaves Consumer Electricals, Aditya Birla Fashion & Retail, BEML, Cyient, HUDCO, Global Health, Gujarat State Petronet, Apar Industries and Aptus Value Housing Finance. Concurrently, there was notable disinvestment from Carborundum Universal Ltd.

Mutual Fund Flows – May 2024

The Mutual Fund industry‘s Avg. AUM surged by 2.78%, reaching ₹58.59 Lakh crore in May.

The average AUM of Equity Oriented Schemes increased by 3.5% to ₹25.07 lakh crore.

Net inflows in equity mutual funds in May are the highest on record since April 2019, when AMFI started reporting monthly mutual fund flows in the current format.

Sectoral/Thematic fund inflows hit a record ₹19.21K crore, driven by NFOs like the HDFC Manufacturing Fund, which garnered ₹9.56K crore.

Hybrid schemes experienced a dip of 9% in net inflows to ₹17.99K crore.

The average AUM of Debt Funds rose by 1.41% to ₹15.03 lakh crore in May.

Funds have flowed into categories with a duration profile of less than a year amid potential volatility due to the ongoing general elections and uncertainty surrounding the interest rate cycle.

The Mutual Fund industry’s average AUM increased by 3.65% to ₹57 lakh crs. in April.

The AUM of Equity Oriented Schemes rose by 4.4% to ₹24.20 lakh crs., marking a 38-month streak of net inflows, despite a 16.4% drop in monthly inflows.

Hybrid schemes experienced a 255% surge in net inflows.

Passive funds saw a 10% month-on-month decline in net inflows, with the most significant contributions in Index Funds.

Debt Funds’ AUM increased by 3.21% to ₹14.82 lakh crs.

SIP inflows reached a new milestone, surpassing the ₹20,000 crore mark.

Mutual Fund Flows – March 2024

Mutual Fund industry’s Avg. AUM increased by 0.88% to ₹55 Lakh Crs in March, despite a net outflow of ₹1.59 Lakh Crs.

Equity Oriented Schemes’ AUM rose by 1.2% to ₹23.20 Lakh Crs, continuing a 37-month streak of net inflows, despite a 16% drop in monthly inflows.

Hybrid scheme inflows declined by 69%, with Arbitrage funds being the exception.

Passive funds saw a 31% month-on-month increase in net inflows, with ETFs leading the way.

Debt Funds’ AUM decreased by 1.30% to ₹14.36 Lakh Crs, facing a net outflow of ₹1.98 Lakh Crs.

SIP inflows continue to hit an all time high, ₹19,271 Crs in March.
